Our Team

Recte has a diverse team of people who are proficient in a range of languages, including English, Chinese,
Korean, Thai, and Malay. Our members have a wealth of experience in TV and radio program production,
encompassing skills in news gathering, research, broadcasting, and directing.

FUJI Tetsuji

English newswriter, translator, and English newswriting instructor. Worked for the Japanese Foreign Ministry, NHK, and as an English teacher at junior high and high schools. National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter. Enjoys motorcycle touring and running marathons.

TAKAI Hikaru

Freelance news anchor and producer. Worked at a cable TV station and a program production company. Has also worked as an MC and reporter on TV and radio, and as a play-by-play announcer for sports. Joined NHK WORLD JAPAN in 2006 as a news producer. Passionate about cars and holds a Japanese ‘Domestic A License.’

OSHIE Misako

After studying in the UK and Malta, joined NHK WORLD JAPAN in 2008 as a news producer. Worked on special programs for Japanese elections, the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the UN General Assembly. Enjoys playing the cello, traveling, and running marathons. Completed the Honolulu Marathon in 2023.

HATTORI Naoko

News producer and reporter for NHK WORLD JAPAN since 2011. Has reported widely on sustainability-related issues, and her report on a Japanese compost starter kit was an online hit for NHK. Her specialty is tarot reading.

Steve McClure

Writer and editor. Billboard’s Japan/Asia Bureau Chief 1999-2008. Worked as an editor at the Japan Times, the Nikkei, Jiji Press, etc. Published “Nippon Pop,” the first book in English on Japanese pop music, in 1998.
